Students who are looking forward to a head start in their careers will find the BAC A-Level Express Route to be the perfect option for them. This unique programme, combined with LAC`s British Transfer Diploma programme in Law or Business, allows students to graduate up to two years ahead of their peers, making BAC the “fastest and smartest path to over 100 UK legal and business degrees”. At the BAC, students interested in accounting can choose from the UKT (Accounting and Finance) degree programme, which offers degrees in accounting and finance from 4 prestigious UK partner universities or professional qualifications. These professional accounting qualifications are the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Chartered Chartered Accountant qualification and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Management Accountant qualification. BAC also offers the UK Transfer Diploma (Law) programme, where students have the opportunity to complete a 1+2 (1 year at BAC and 2 years at a partner university) or 2+1 (2 years at BAC and 1 year at a partner university, depending on your preference). While completing the 2+1 Transfer Law programme in the UK, I followed the 4 compulsory subjects of Common Law, Public Law, Criminal Law and Contract Law. In the 2nd year, however, we had a slight freedom in choosing one of our elective courses, namely company law or family law with 3 compulsory subjects: tort law, land law and evidence law. In Grade 3, participants in the 2+1 program should be prepared to say goodbye to their friends, as most would go to the different universities of their choice. Although we are allowed to choose 4 elective courses of our choice, matching students should take a compulsory subject of EU law with 3 other elective courses of their choice for those taking the Certificate in Legal Practice Malaysia (CLP) exam. For those considering taking the BAR exam in the UK, it is advisable to include both EU law and case law, as some law schools require both, although some accept students with no knowledge of the case law.
Two of our partner universities, Cardiff University and Northumbria University, offer the bar exam. For those considering the CLP exam, LAC also offers additional privileges for their own students. The Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) A-Level is the ideal pre-university programme for students who have not yet decided on a specific higher education pathway, as this leads to a wide range of programmes. Students can choose from a wide range of A-level subjects that LAC offers, including biology, chemistry, law, economics, accounting, English literature, and mathematics, allowing them to progress to a variety of degree programs in law, economics, medicine, finance, engineering, or communications, among others. Since 2013, LAC has invested more than RM110 million in its new PJ campus, which includes a full library and research center, computer labs, a mock court, a BACteria food court, a TWS café, a Rock Academy music school, and a Monster Fit health and wellness center. These facilities provide an engaging experience for students seeking a balance between learning and leading a fun student life. In addition to studying, LAC offers students many opportunities to discover their talents. There are classes such as Zumba, martial arts, free trial music classes and much more. A recent talent exploration I was allowed to participate in was being part of the BACMUN (Brickfields Asia College Model United Nations) press team, where I was able to explore different expressions of writing under the guidance of experienced people. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive an LLB (Hons) degree from the respective university.
The BRITISH Transfer Diploma Programme of BAC (Law) is fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency. Students graduating from a partner university receive UK qualification status, which entitles them to the Bar`s professional training course. Individuals who intend to practice law with this degree can therefore start either the BPTC in the UK or the Certificate in Legal Practice in Malaysia. To meet the needs of outstation students, LAC operates a luxurious but reasonably priced student residence called “The Mansion.” These upscale condos feature a gym and barbecue facilities. These accommodation units can accommodate nearly 600 students. Known as the country`s No. 1 law school, BAC students have achieved excellent results in undergraduate and postgraduate studies. In the last four years alone, LAC has produced more than 600 top students in the world and at home, literary award winners, 1st class and 2nd class graduates. Well, my university certainly offers the fastest way to take most of their courses. In the UK, the A-level course would last 2 years. In most typical Malaysian colleges, this course would last 1.5 years. But BAC knows how Malaysians like to have everything from speed to results, so they have developed a shorter duration that allows students to complete it in just 1 year!! The greatness didn`t stop there, you know how we all like to ask for gifts when we buy an item, LAC gives gifts without any request!! When I enrolled in my transfer law programme in the UK, I received a free course for a programme called Achiever`s Programme and a number of free books to start my year.
In addition to these academic programs, we also get a free subscription to the Monster Fit gym. Since 2010, BAC A-level students have received the Top in the World Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (formerly Cambridge Brilliance Awards) four times for law and economics, with 3 consecutive victories in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Most recently in 2014, BAC students won the Top in the World Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards for Law, Business Studies and Economics. Among the thousands of law students from around the world who took the UOL exams, Robin and Jiing Luu scored the highest in the world for their respective years. Brickfields Asia College (BAC) has established itself as the fastest and smartest way to reach over 100 UK degrees. Through partnerships and ties with more than 25 UK universities and professional associations, LAC offers its students access to more than 100 world-class degrees and professional qualifications that can be obtained locally or abroad. At the undergraduate level, LAC has produced 99 1st class LLB (Hons) graduates over the past four years. During their postgraduate studies, BAC students have received 10 consecutive awards from the Tun Hamid Omar Foundation for the best CLP student in Malaysia since 2005, 55 out of 69 and 56 out of 71 2nd class uppers awarded at CLP exams since 2005.
I am delighted and honoured to welcome you to BAC College (Singapore) at the beginning of the school year. At LAC, we are dedicated to a student-centered program that fosters academic excellence. As employees, we are here to support you with all the necessary means to ensure you reach your full academic potential. We look forward to working with you to provide quality education. The UKT (Business) degree programme offers students a choice of degrees ranging from the most common (business management) and (accounting and finance) to unconventional degrees (logistics and supply chain management) from over 10 renowned UK partner universities. I started with the law degree from the University of London (now CertHE) at the ITC School of Laws and, as a result, got a place at University College London (UCL) for their Bachelor of Laws programme. The implementation and organization of the program at ITC prepared me well for law school, as it is not only structured in an inclusive way, but also tailored to the needs of a part-time student. As a full-time national soldier, I felt that the availability of audio recordings, the ease with which I could approach the teaching staff, and the high level of student-teacher interaction helped me a lot to stay in tune with the class, even if I missed the course.
Students can choose to pursue their LLB (Hons) through the University of London`s international programmes, the only external law degree recognised by the Legal Professional Qualifying Board. This program allows students to complete the three years of study in Malaysia. The Foundation in Arts program is designed to provide a learning experience that places a strong emphasis on developing academic skills and, most importantly, fun! It offers an alternative pathway for students to access a wide range of bachelor`s degrees.
