On mobile, you`ll see it in the box at the top of your screen and on the desktop at the top right of the community page next to the “Join Community” button. You`ll also need a reddit account to participate in this new feature. We`ve looked at what you should avoid on Reddit to improve your experience as well as the overall quality of the site. After all, Reddit is nothing without its users commenting and submitting content, so how you behave on the site is very important. Most long-time Reddit users should already be aware of these rules, but it`s always good to have a reminder. If you haven`t browsed Reddit much, we don`t recommend starting to submit content right away. You should first look around the site to get an idea of how it works, check the rules of your favorite subreddits, and see what kind of Reddit posts appear on the first page. Once you`re there, you`ll be randomly paired with half a dozen other Redditors from the same subReddit, where you can start chatting. Reddit rules and the specific subReddit still apply, meaning you can get banned if you violate the site`s terms of service by sharing things like hate speech or inappropriate images. Stick to the Community Guidelines.

Post authentic content to communities in which you have a personal interest and do not cheat or engage in content manipulation (including spamming, election manipulation, ban evasion or subscriber fraud) or disrupt or disrupt Reddit communities. We have a variety of ways to enforce our policies, including, but not limited to, before you start posting, however, it`s a good idea to go through some basic rules of Reddit etiquette — often referred to as “reddiquette.” Let`s talk about some of the things you shouldn`t do on Reddit. Avoid them and you`ll be on your way to a more enjoyable experience. Reddit and its communities are exactly what we make of them together, and can only exist if we work by a common set of rules. We ask you to respect not only the letter of these rules, but also the spirit. These chat rooms are not moderated by the subcontractor`s moderators, as Start Chat has its own reporting feature. You can report messages by tapping the indicator icon on the desktop or by long-pressing the message on your phone. You can also block a user in a chat room to make sure you`re never associated with the same person again. This new feature is interesting because it combines a random AOL chat room from two decades ago with the integration of a modern internet giant. These Start Chatting community spaces could become a place where people can make friends and open up about the challenges that are going through their lives during these difficult times. Chatrooms could also be a hot spot for inappropriate activity, with random users having little to lose other than their Reddit accounts. So, if you click on a link and it leads to a spammy website, reject it.

If a message doesn`t follow the rules of the subreddit, vote on it. But don`t vote just because you personally disagree with the article or shared content. There might be an interesting discussion behind something you personally don`t like. “After seeing an increase in the number of Redditors using chat, we quickly developed Start Chat so we could provide users with more intimate, real-time interactive experiences,” said Alex Le, vice president of product and community at Reddit. Reddit just announced Start Chat, a brand new feature that allows users to join randomly generated chat rooms around a specific subreddit. According to reddit, chat usage on their platform has increased by 80% since January due to the quarantine, and the company wanted to create a new way to interact with users. Start Chatting is rolling out today to some subReddits on mobile and desktop, and more communities will get this feature in the coming weeks. Every community on Reddit is defined by its users. Some of these users help manage the community as moderators. The culture of each community is explicitly shaped by the community rules enforced by the moderators, and implicitly by the positive and negative votes and discussions of their community members.

Please respect the rules of the communities you participate in and do not interfere with those you are not a member of. However, that doesn`t mean you can`t share something of your own on Reddit. You will find several subreddits dedicated to sharing your artistic work, such as r/ITookAPicture and r/MusicCritique. But in general, you don`t publish just to drive clicks to your own content. Among the rules that apply to each community are platform-wide rules that apply to everyone on Reddit. These rules are enforced by us, the administrators. Group chats aren`t part of a community like most things on Reddit, so they`re not maintained by community moderators. For this reason, enforcement of rules and redditiquette works differently in a group chat than in communities. Stay legal and avoid posting illegal content or soliciting or facilitating illegal or prohibited transactions.

Don`t worry about reposts. It`s better to share new content than to try to repeat past successes. After looking around for a while, reading the rest of these tips, and learning about the Reddit 101 guide, you`d better be better equipped to start posting. Remember the human being. Reddit is a place to create community and belonging, not to attack marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has the right to use Reddit without harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence. Communities and users who incite violence or promote hatred on the basis of identity or vulnerability will be banned. Many reposts involve people simply stealing someone else`s image or video and claiming it`s theirs.

They wait a few months after a post goes viral and share it again (sometimes with the exact same title). Often these get a lot of positive votes again, but you`ll also see sharp-eyed people calling the repost in the comments. The above is an example. Through these communities, you can post, comment, vote, discuss, learn, debate, support, and connect with people who share your interests, and we encourage you to find or even create your home on Reddit.
